General Information
All academic petitions are reviewed by the Student Affairs Committee at the Schulich School of Business. Petitions are only considered for rare, unforeseen, and extenuating circumstances (e.g. medical reasons, death of a family member, etc).
Petitions should be submitted electronically through this online form as soon as the circumstances occur. As a student, it is your responsibility to submit a complete petition, which includes a personal letter and supporting documentation. Incomplete petitions will not be considered.
-
The Petition Process
It can take 3 to 6 weeks from when your petition is submitted to receive a decision. Due to COVID-19, there will be significant delays in receiving a decision. Do not assume that submitting a petition will result in a positive outcome. Once a decision has been made regarding your petition, you will receive notification to your Schulich (or York) e-mail address.
The Committee will only review complete petitions. This includes:
1) A Personal Letter
2) Supporting Documentation (if applicable)
3) A Revised Study Plan (if applicable)
-
Academic Advising
We highly recommend you speak with your academic advisor prior to submitting your petition. If you wish to have your petition request reviewed before submission, please make an appointment under "Petitions/Academic Honesty" to meet with the Petitions Officer. The Petitions Officer will review your petition request, including your personal letter, and provide feedback. Take advantage of this opportunity.
